An amendment to a water projects bill could help speed up the funding of flood mitigation projects. The U.S. Senate passed the $12 billion measure yesterday. It included an amendment that allows projects to become eligible for federal construction funds after the completion of a chief’s report by the Army Corps of Engineers. That would include the Blanchard River mitigation project.
Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown introduced the amendment to the bill. In a statement released Thursday Brown said, “We must end the arbitrary waiting game for important projects like the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project.” He added, “Findlay and Ottawa have invested time and valuable financial resources into getting this project underway.”
The bill is now waiting for President Obama’s signature.
