Wilford Harewood/Bravo(NEW YORK) — Bravo did some damage control after the brawl between Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore on the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion episode aired April 20. Executive producer Andy Cohen, who also served as the host of the reunion show, said in an “@sk Andy” video on BravoTV.com that he did not predict a fight would break out.
“Porsha and Kenya were saying very nasty things to each other. They were insulting each other back and forth — both of them responsible,” he explained. “As they were doing that I did not in a million years ever imagine that it would escalate into them getting up off the couch. I didn’t!”
In a heated exchange on RHOA, Williams attacked Moore by punching and dragging her on the floor. Williams said she felt provoked as Moore put a scepter in her face and spoke to her through a bullhorn, despite sitting on the same couch. As a result, Williams was booked April 16 on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery by Fulton County authorities.
Cohen also explained why he sent Williams home from filming more of the reunion show, while Moore was able to stay.
“[Porsha] said quite clearly that she felt that she was not prepared for the day. I don’t know if that meant emotionally or physically or otherwise. But I did not — and the producers agreed — want to put her in a situation…that she was unprepared for,” he said.
Cohen added, “I’m really sorry for what happened. I don’t take pleasure in it. If I did it again I wouldn’t have a bullhorn there and there won’t be again.”
Part two of the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion special aired Sunday night.
