Another Findlay business has come forward as the victim of a phone forwarding scam. J&J’s Automart contacted the Findlay Hancock County Chamber of Commerce about their issue after hearing about the scam on WFIN radio. According to the email to the chamber, a man scammed the business on April 11. He asked to use the phone so he could call his daughter to come look at a car on the lot.
What the man actually did was forward the business phone to a cell phone number. A Toledo check cashing business called the number on the 11th to make sure J&J’s had the funds to cover a check the man wrote at the business. That caused a check from J&J’s to the check cashing business to come back with a non-sufficient fund notice.
A report has been filed on the incident. A Findlay barbershop was also victimized by the crime.
