Elected officials and business leaders will be taking another economic development trip to Japan in the near future. Findlay Mayor Lydia Mihalik, Hancock County Commissioner Brian Robertson, University of Findlay President Dr. Katherine Fell, and Findlay-Hancock County Alliance Economic Development Director Tony Iriti among others will meet with the representatives of companies doing business in the area. Mihalik tells the Courier, “due to economic factors, it’s apparent there will be more foreign investment in the U.S. from Japanese companies in the future, so we feel it’s important to roll out the red carpet for them.”
Findlay City Council appropriated $4,000 this week to pay for Mihalik’s plane ticket and hotel. She’ll pay for other expenses herself. Hancock County has not yet budgeted anything for Robertson’s trip.
The group will leave September 6 and return September 15. The last time a Findlay delegation met with business leaders in Japan was February of 2012.
