Explosion at World Cup Screening Venue in Nigeria

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(DAMATURU, Nigeria) — An explosion in northern Nigeria at the site of a World Cup match screening injured an unknown number of people.

BBC News reports that a suicide bomber in a tricycle taxi detonated the explosives during a World Cup match between Brazil and Mexico on Tuesday.

The location, one of a number of open-air viewing centers in Nigeria, is extremely popular, according to BBC News, and is often crowded with people watching big events. It was not immediately clear how many people may have been injured or if there were any fatalities.
