Five-Car Crash In Fostoria Injures Four

12/3/13 – 5:00 A.M.

A Five-car crash injured four people in Fostoria Monday morning. Fostoria police report Ann Beard was driving north on North Countyline Street around 10:20 a.m. when she ran a red light at the intersection with Culbertson Lane and was hit by a car driven by Charles Thompson of Fostoria. The impact of the crash sent Beard’s minivan into the southbound lane of the road, causing it to hit a car driven by Joseph Wolph. His car was pushed into the parking lot of a Bob Evans restaurant, hitting an unoccupied car. Beard’s minivan continued north, hitting a car driven by Beverly Deerwester of Fostoria head-on.

Beard, two-passengers in her van, and Thompson were all taken to Fostoria Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. One of the van’s passengers, Allen Mason, was taken by medical helicopter to Promedica Toledo Hospital.

Beard told police her brakes failed. The crash remains under investigation.
