Flood Insurance Revisions Headed To White House

3/14/14 – 5:33 A.M.

Congress is sending a compromise flood insurance bill to the White House after passage by the Senate. The measure aims to curb high flood insurance costs for many homeowners in flood-prone areas, like Findlay and Ottawa.

The bill limits most flood insurance premium hikes to 18-percent a year. It also reverses a prior rule mandating an immediate hike in insurance premiums when a homeowner sells their home.

Many complained the provision made it difficult to sell their homes.
