Two-time Olympic medalist in alpine skiing, Picabo Street, who is now a mother of four young boys, is sharing her thoughts and feelings on responsible sports programs for youth everywhere..
Streets says many parents’ hearts are in the right place when placing a high importance on their child’s coach to be a caring individual rather than being skilled in that sport. Yet many coaches have experienced problems with parents’ unreasonable expectations regarding winning. Now that Street is a parent on the sidelines, she doesn’t hesitate to talk to parents and coaches who may be a little overzealous..
Street recommends having that conversation with your kids and coaches about goals, reasonable expectations and proper behavior from parents when it comes to youth sports programs. More information can be found on Responsible Sports.com
