Local Health Officials Monitoring Measles And Mumps Cases In Ohio

4/28/14 – 5:14 A.M.

Health officials in Findlay are keeping a close eye on some health issues in other parts of the state. Chad Masters of the Findlay Health Department says roughly 263 cases of the mumps have been reported in central Ohio. There have also been 14 cases of the measles found in Knox County. Masters adds no cases have been reported in Findlay or Hancock County.

While that may be the case, Masters recommends taking some precautions. The first thing to do is make sure you’re up to date on vaccinations. It’s also important not to share drinks or eating utensils. Standard precautions apply as well; like washing your hands, covering your mouth when you sneeze, and staying home if you are sick.
