Wood County Sheriff’s Office Looks Into Facebook Scam

5/23/14 – 6:42 A.M.

It goes without saying having your Facebook account hacked is never a good thing. It can also be an issue for your friends. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office recently investigated a hacked account.

Friends of the person who was hacked started getting notices they were “winners” of $150,000 from the Federal Empowerment Agency. The catch was they needed to pay $975 after getting a bogus check.

Officials say anytime you’re asked to send money to get money, it’s most likely a scam.
