Marathon Will Request Road Closures For Expansion Project

2/18/14 – 5:21 A.M.

To make way for it’s big expansion, Marathon Petroleum is asking the city of Findlay to permanently close some roads in the area of its campus. Findlay’s Planning Commission and City Council’s Planning and Zoning Committee is expected to look at the impact of the request.

The proposed closures would include East Hardin Street from South Main to East streets; Beech Avenue from East Sandusky to East Hardin streets; and the north/south alley from East Hardin to East Lincoln streets that is located behind the former Elks and RCM Architects buildings.

Marathon is also expected to ask for temporary parking changes from the traffic commission. The commission will examine temporarily closing East Street from Sandusky to a half-block south, and removing the two-hour parking restriction for all spaces around the campus’ perimeter and interior streets until the end of the year.
