7/1/14 – 4:50 A.M.

Ottawa has a new village councilman. The Putnam County Sentinel reports council heard from five people interested in taking a spot vacated by Jeff Ducey at their Monday meeting, and appointed Dave Michel to the post.

Gene Ruhe, Mark Schmiedebusch, Joe Laudick and Bill Krouse also applied for the job.

Ducey stepped down last month after being involved in a serious car accident.
