Ingram Publishing/Thinkstock(HIRAM, Ohio) — Ohio police are trying to find the owner of more than $1,000 in bills found fluttering along a busy highway.
The mystery cash was spotted by a motorist on the westbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike about 10 p.m. Tuesday. The driver pulled over and began collecting the money and was joined by an off-duty police officer. The money was found in Hiram, a town east of Cleveland.
“We hope to return the money to rightful owner,” Sgt. Darren Huggins of the Ohio State Highway Patrol told ABC News Wednesday.
Huggins said more than $1,000 worth of cash in different bills was loosely scattered on the side of the road and collected. An exact amount was not determined.
Officials did not identify the motorist who found the money and said the investigation is ongoing.
