The Hancock Park District has reconsidered a decision to buy property adjacent to Oakwoods Nature Preserve. The park district was planning to apply for a Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation grant to purchase a house and about 10 acres of land according to the Courier. The grant application process was expected to take a year, but the property owners were not willing to wait. The property is surrounded by the nature preserve which includes a house, three-car garage, several outbuildings and farmland.
The park commissioners were also concerned that a house inspection and replacement of the house’s septic system would be costly.
