Should the river get to major flood stage, Red Cross volunteers are activated and on standby should emergency shelters need to be opened. When severe weather threatens there may be a tendency to think that forecasters are over reacting or instilling panic, but the intention is to make sure residents and business are prepared..

James said the Red Cross will be there afterwards to help pick up the pieces if you need anything like a cleanup kit or assistance if you’re not able to get back into your home or if there has been damage.
