As we continue our look back at the year that was 2013, today we look at a bout of severe weather that rolled through the area last month. The weather forecast for November 17 called for strong storms, and led to tornadoes touching down in Putnam County in the village of Cloverdale as well as two spots in Wood County.

The tornado in Cloverdale ended up being an EF-2, and caused a great deal of damage. The twister destroyed the St. Barbara Catholic Church, and damaged or destroyed many other buildings in the town. The Putnam County Office of Public Safety reported that of the 67 structures in town, 42 were damaged in some way. Five structures were completely destroyed.

State disaster relief funds were approved for Cloverdale and Jerry City in the aftermath of the storms.
