Van Buren Schools May Put Bond Issue On May Ballot

1/27/14 – 5:19 A.M.

Van Buren school board members will vote tonight on whether-or-not to put a $29 million bond issue on the ballot this spring. The Courier reports if passed tonight, voters will be asked to approve a measure that would help pay for the demolition of the older part of the high school and middle school building, build new classrooms and a new gym, and would also improve the heating and cooling systems for the district’s two buildings.

The district last asked for new money in 2000 to renovate the elementary school.
