2016 is rapidly winding down and starting today we’re taking a look back at the biggest local stories of the year, as decided by the number of views a story received on our website and by our editorial staff.
In July a bizarre and tragic story came to an end with the sentencing of Joel Drain. Drain pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in the death of 56-year-old Randy Grose of Findlay. He also pleaded guilty to a felonious assault charge for stabbing his father in the neck. Drain and Grose were friends, but Drain attacked Grose for telling the police about the stabbing.
Drain was out of jail on bond when the murder happened. Following the attack, he drove to Sindey where he turned himself in.
Judge Joseph Niemeyer sentenced Drain to 38 years to life in prison.
