Findlay Man Suing The City Over Nuisance Property Complaints

10/19/18 – 4:38 A.M.

A Findlay man is suing the city. George Martens and his wife say that Findlay unlawfully denied and/or encumbered their right to rent and sell property. The Courier reports The suit stems from nuisance property complaints filed against him by the city. They are suing for $280,000 in damages.

There are four cases pending. The first is set to begin Monday morning in the U.S. District Court in Toledo.

Martens owns several rental properties around the city. He says the city has labeled building supplies as junk, when in fact he is using them to improve his properties.

Findlay officials filed four nuisance complaints about junk material on Martens properties in 2016. Those cases are still pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
