Reward Offered For Information About Fire Determined To Be Arson

Investigators with the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal have determined that a fire that took place at a home in Wyandot County was intentionally set. They are now seeking tips from the public to help identify those responsible.

At approximately 3 a.m. on March 18, the Forest Fire Department, along with other mutual aid departments, were dispatched to a fire located at 19015 County Highway 53 in Forest, Ohio. The home, which sustained significant damage, was vacant at the time and no injuries were reported.

The State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigations Bureau and the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office have ruled the fire as arson and are now asking for the public’s help in identify the individual or individuals who may have been involved.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact the State Fire Marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728.
