Woman Makes Donation To Police Department In Late Husband’s Memory

(From Tiffin Police Chief David Pauly)

Please join me in thanking Lori Sharpe Garza for her incredibly generous donation to the Tiffin Police Department as part of the Aaron Garza Memorial Benefit held on March 4th.

Lori’s late husband, Aaron, proudly served our country for eight years in the United States Army and an additional four years in the United States Air Force, including combat service in Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. His service was defined by a deep commitment to duty, honor, and the defense of our nation.

In March of 2021, Aaron contracted COVID-19 and spent two months on a ventilator at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. On May 19, 2021, Lori and her family made the incredibly difficult decision to remove him from life support.

Each year, Lori honors Aaron’s memory by organizing the Aaron Garza Memorial Benefit. The Tiffin community has continued to show tremendous support for this event, and each year Lori selects a local organization to receive the proceeds. This year, she chose the Tiffin Police Department. Lori shared that, with so many of our first responders being veterans, she could not think of a more fitting organization one that would make Aaron proud.

Her donation will be used to install two mounted flags at the entrance of the Tiffin Police Department: the American flag and a flag representing the Tiffin Police Department patch. These flags will serve as a lasting tribute to Aaron’s service, sacrifice, and legacy. I am deeply grateful to Lori for her kindness and honored to accept this donation in Aaron’s name. Thank you, Lori, for your generosity, your strength, and for ensuring Aaron’s legacy continues to make a difference in our community.
