Ohio School Bus Safety Act Passes Legislature
(ONN) – The Ohio School Bus Safety Act has been approved by lawmakers and now heads to Governor Mike DeWine for his signature.
The bill is meant to keep children safe to and from school, and will increase penalties for drivers who pass a stopped school bus.
That includes increasing fines and suspending licenses of repeat offenders.
It also allows for cameras on the outside of school buses to help catch drivers in the act.
Lawmakers say they’ve been working to find solutions since an 11-year-old boy was killed and 23 others were injured in a school bus crash in Clark County in 2023.
