Dangerously Hot Weather Conditions This Week
The National Weather Service is warning of a prolonged period of dangerously hot weather beginning on Monday, June 29.
Forecasters say high temperatures will be in the 90s throughout the week, with heat index values of 105 or even higher expected.
Health officials point out that consecutive days of excessive heat and humidity, combined with little relief overnight due to very warm low temperatures can be especially hazardous.
People are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and in the air-conditioning, and check up on relatives and neighbors — as heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke increase significantly during times of extreme heat and high humidity.
