Governor Signs Catalytic Converter Theft Bill Into Law
(ONN) – Ohio is cracking down on catalytic converter thefts.
Governor DeWine signed a new law making the theft or receipt of a stolen converter a fifth-degree felony.
Under the law, scrap metal dealers must now require proof of ownership and log daily records with the state.
While lawmakers say the strict penalties protect drivers, some recycling groups warn the heavy regulations will hurt legitimate businesses.
