People Check Out ‘Big Boy’ As It Chugs Through Hancock County

The world’s largest operating steam locomotive, Big Boy No. 4014, chugged through Hancock, Putnam, and other counties in the region as it headed back west after a cross-country trip to the East Coast earlier in the summer to celebrate America 250.

WFIN was on hand in Mortimer, a little north of Findlay, to watch the historic locomotive go by just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Big Boy’s trip back west comes after an historic display stop in Fostoria on Tuesday that brought traffic to a standstill in the area.

WFIN was also on hand in Arcadia in June as the Big Boy chugged by on its way to the East Coast.
