Boat inspections are highly recommended

One of the first things I do to start each boating season is to get a sanctioned safety inspection and the sticker awarded to boaters who pass. By displaying that sticker on my boat, I avoid being pulled over for random inspections for the balance of the boating season. I don’t have anything to hide; it’s just that doing so helps keep me from being interrupted while fishing, cruising, or relaxing. 

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft offers free vessel safety checks before and during the boating season. The voluntary inspections conducted by ODNR ensure that boats are properly equipped with all legally required safety gear before setting out for the season.

Boaters are encouraged to bring their vessels to one of the scheduled safety check locations, fully prepped as if heading out on the water. Officers will inspect boats for required equipment, such as life jackets, fire extinguishers, and navigation lights, while also providing helpful tips to ensure a safe and successful boating season.… Continue reading
