Ballot Board Approves Language For Anti-Vaccine Amendment

A proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would prevent businesses, healthcare providers and governments from imposing vaccine mandates is a step closer to the statewide ballot.

The proposal would prohibit those entities from discriminating against people based on vaccination status or mandating any vaccine, medical procedure, treatment or medical device.

The Ohio Ballot Board unanimously approved the language this week.

Supporters must next collect thousands of valid signatures from registered voters.

The issue wouldn’t appear on a statewide ballot until next year, at the earliest.

The Ohio Capital Journal is reporting, if passed, Ohio would become the only state in the United States with an explicit ban of vaccine mandates in its constitution.

The amendment would cover all vaccines, not just COVID-19.
