Commissioners Talk About State Budget Effects On Court
07/06/17 – 2:30 P.M.
The Ohio State Budget has been passed and it has some negative repercussions on the adult probation court. Commissioner Mark Gazarek said that grant reductions cost the county greatly but it could have been worse.
Gazarek also explained that the indictments are up 20% compared to last year. The state budget also makes it so that more felons will be serving their time at the Hancock County Jail. Gazarek said this will make costs go up.
He said that the proposed sales tax increase will be helpful in making up the difference if it passes.
