County Commissioners Appoint Interim Engineer

Doug Cade will officially become the Hancock County Engineer on Saturday. The Hancock County Commissioners appointed Cade to the interim role during their Thursday meeting. Current engineer Chris Long announced he was stepping down due to health concerns late last month.

Cade has served as the deputy county engineer since 2015.

The engineer’s position is an elected role. Because Long is a Republican the Hancock County GOP gets to pick the replacement to fill the rest of his term. They have 45 days to make their pick.
