Lorain Man Sentenced For Hancock County Assault
6/30/17 – 5:06 A.M.
A Lorain man will spend three years in prison for hitting a Hancock County teenager in the head with a beer bottle in Marion Township last September. The Courier reports Judge Jonathan Starn sentenced 51-year-old George Seymore Thursday. Seymore pleaded guilty to assault in May. Seymore will also have to pay more than $16,000 in restitution for medical bills.
The victim of the assault spoke in court Thursday. Thomas Urbansky said, “This has been a hard time for my family.” His mother said when she got the call about the incident last year a nurse told her Thomas had potentially fatal injuries.
Assistant Prosecutor Steve Powell said he had difficulties with the case because there was so much alcohol and substance abuse. Starn said Seymore tested positive for cocaine when he appeared in court Thursday.
