Osborn Avenue Bridge Replacement Starts Next Month

The Osborn Avenue bridge replacement project should start next month. The Hancock County Commissioners appropriated money for the project during their Thursday meeting. The county expects the project to cost around $2 million, but Hancock County is only on the hook for around $100,000 of that. State grants will cover the rest of the bill.

The project will lower the structure to improve sight lines for people trying to turn onto Osborn Avenue near the bridge. Crews will remove the road underneath, which they closed last September after a truck hit the bridge while trying to use the underpass.

Work should finish in November.
