Program Aims To Prevent Type 2 Diabetes In County Employees
4/12/19 – 5:03 A.M.
The Hancock County Commissioners learned more about a diabetes prevention program for county employees Thursday. Hancock Public Health commissioners Karim Baroudi says the county is taking part in PreventT2 to help employees make lifestyle changes. Baroudi says the changes can help prevent or delay the development of Type 2 diabetes.
Employees can get a prediabetes screening through a questionnaire or through a blood draw. Those who need help will work with a “lifestyle coach” to improve nutrition and exercise.
A grant from the Hancock County Community Foundation is covering the majority of the cost.
