ODOT Asking Drivers To Use Extra Caution In Work Zones

(From the Ohio Department of Transportation)

National Work Zone Awareness Week will be observed April 20 – 24, carrying the theme, “Safe Actions Save Lives.”

National Work Zone Awareness Week is an annual spring campaign held at the start of construction season to encourage safe driving through highway work zones. The key message is for drivers to use extra caution in work zones.

We hold in our minds and hearts the memory of Jordan Thomas, an employee of Kokosing Construction Company Inc. who was struck and killed in a work zone on I-70 in Columbus on Feb. 28, 2026. The driver fled the scene and has not been found.  With this week, we honor those, like Jordan, who have been killed or injured in a work zone, and all roadway workers.

Join us on April 22 for “Wear Orange Day,” in honor of work zone awareness and all who work on our nation’s roadways.
