New home for the infamous Butter Cow
The newly renovated Dairy Building will be ready in time for the Ohio State Fair, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled in conjunction with the unveiling of the annual butter cow display.
Long considered one of the fair’s most popular attractions, the Dairy Building serves Ohio dairy favorites including hand-dipped ice cream, milkshakes, and Swiss cheese sandwiches, while also housing the nationally recognized butter cow and calf display.
Recent renovations were designed to enhance the visitor experience while preserving the building’s historic character. Updates include the addition of air conditioning, new windows and flooring, expanded guest amenities, and a new Butter Cow cooler relocated to improve visibility and visitor flow. A new kitchen addition on the back of the building expands food preparation capabilities, and an educational video corner highlights Ohio dairy farming and its impact on the state’s agricultural industry.
