11/14/18 – 5:16 A.M.

The State Highway Patrol has identified the Mount Blanchard man killed in a crash following a high-speed chase from over the past weekend. 33-year-old Matthew Stuard died after his car hit two utility poles on Blanchard Avenue near Fremont Avenue late Saturday night. The patrol says his passenger, 44-year-old Juan Palacios of Findlay, received treatment at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

The chase started when a trooper clocked Stuard going more than 20 miles-per-hour over the speed limit on West Main Cross Street near I-75. Stuard sped away and eventually crashed, causing his car to catch fire. Troopers and Findlay Police officers couldn’t get Stuard out of the car until they extinguished the fire.
