Driver, Passengers Must ID Themselves To Police When Pulled Over Per New Law
(ONN) – If you get pulled over in Ohio, you’ll now be required to tell the officer who you are.
Governor DeWine recently signed a new law mandating that drivers and passengers give their names, addresses, and birthdates during a traffic stop.
Say no and you’re looking at up to 30 days in jail and a 250 dollar fine.
The law also cracks down on anyone who interferes with police during a stop.
Police say it’s a safety measure but critics — like the public defender’s office — say it’s overkill even for something as minor as a broken tail light.
The law takes effect in 90 days.
