Fatal Shooting At Put-in-Bay

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, shortly after midnight, Put-in-Bay Police Department officers and Put-in-Bay EMS were dispatched to a report of a shooting at Mr. Ed’s Bar & Grille, 272 Delaware Ave., Put-in-Bay.

First responders found a 39-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his injuries. No other people were injured.

Put-in-Bay officers immediately contacted the Ottawa County Major Crimes Unit and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations to request assistance with the investigation. Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and Agents from the Major Crimes Unit arrived on South Bass Island to assist Put-in-Bay officers.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol also provided air support to search for the suspect. At approximately 3:40 AM, a suspect was taken into custody by members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. No other individuals are being sought.

The investigation is being handled by the Ottawa County Major Crimes Unit and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

No other information will be provided by the Put-in-Bay Police Department.
