More Judges Speak Out Against Issue 1 In Findlay

Findlay received a visit from an Ohio Supreme Court Justice and a Justice candidate Friday to talk about Issue 1. The issue will turn 4th and 5th-degree drug felonies into misdemeanors. Current Justice Mary DeGenaro said that the issue forces people into treatment and takes away a judge’s option for jail.
She explained that jail time can serve as a useful tool to get people to think about treatment. Judge and supreme court justice candidate Craig Baldwin said that treatment is the best answer but not always the right one.
Baldwin explained that sometimes people are more receptive to treatment after spending some time in jail.
