New Committee Created In Ohio To Examine Data Center Concerns

(ONN) – State lawmakers have announced a new committee to look into the growth of data centers across the Buckeye State.

The Ohio Joint Data Center Committee will examine energy use and health impacts on communities from data centers.

Lawmakers say the new committee is meant to help communities better understand future data center development.

The centers are a huge debate nationwide right now.

The large facilities are filled with computer servers that store and process massive amounts of digital information.

They power things like your online apps, streaming and cloud services.

Supporters say data centers could create new tax revenue and more jobs, but critics are concerned about the possible environmental and health impacts.
