Open Houses Held Ahead Of Sale Of Historic Fire Station
People had the opportunity to tour Findlay’s historic former fire station at 401 North Main Street before the property is offered through a sealed bid process.
WFIN news spoke with Findlay Service-Safety Director Rob Martin at one of the open houses, who told us the sale will include deed restrictions to preserve the historic aesthetic of the exterior of the building.
Developers, investors, business owners, and preservation-minded buyers had the opportunity to tour the historic fire station during two recent open houses.
The sale includes the former City fire station building and the adjacent parking parcel immediately north of the structure.
The property has been owned by the City since 1934, serving first as a fire station and later as the City’s Traffic Department before being vacated in 2019.
The City is seeking a purchaser who will preserve the property’s historic character while investing in its future. The exterior architectural features of the building are protected through deed restrictions, and renovation is expected to begin within twelve months of the sale.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, when they will be publicly opened in the Mayor’s Conference Room on the third floor of the Findlay Municipal Building, 318 Dorney Plaza.
The minimum bid is $150,000, and all bids must be accompanied by a $500 bid bond in the form of cash, surety bond, certified check, money order, or cashier’s check.
Complete bid documents and terms of sale are available through the City of Findlay Mayor’s Office or at www.findlayohio.gov.
“The former fire station is a distinctive piece of Findlay’s history with tremendous redevelopment potential,” said Service-Safety Director Rob Martin. “We encourage qualified buyers to take advantage of these open house opportunities to explore the property and envision its next chapter.”
