Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Shooting

On Friday, July 3, 2026, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office began investigation of a homicide that took place at 981 Main St. in the village of Jerry City.

The suspected shooter, identified as 27 year old Logan Carrier, called the Sheriff’s Office at approximately 4:21 AM to report he shot and killed his friend, 30 year old Thomas (TJ) Sager Jr. of Bowling Green.

Upon arrival, the suspect was taken into custody and Thomas was located with a gunshot wound to the head.

Also in the home at the time were Logan’s fiancé, Jazmin Barnes and their 5 year old child.

Arriving and assisting on scene were the Wood County Coroner, Wood County Prosecutor’s Office, BCI, Wood County Dog Warden, and Mid-County 120 EMS crews.

The incident is still under investigation.
