A crew demolishing the former St. Wendelin Elementary School in Fostoria recently made an interesting find. Brad Posey of Posey Excavating says they found a time capsule hidden behind a piece of sandstone trim.

The capsule held newspapers from July 2, 1909, a 1905 Religious Guide and Church Calendar, a postcard with a rendering of the school building, a crucifix, and a small medallion. The capsule also had a letter from Nicholas Altwies that recognized those who helped build the school.

Posey gave the items to parish officials and members of the Fostoria Area Historical Society.
