BVHS Hosting Blood Drive

Blanchard Valley Health System will be holding a blood drive to help address the shortage of blood donations within the region.

The blood drive is scheduled for Wednesday, February 9th from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Appointments are encouraged. To schedule an appointment, visit the website redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code ‘BVH’ or call Beverly Woodward at 419-423-5337 or ext. 55337.

Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn will be donating and is encouraging others to do so as well.

There will also be a blood drive at First Lutheran Church on Lincoln Street in Findlay on Thursday.

The American Red Cross is still experiencing a national blood crisis and is calling on all donors to help.

Jim McIntyre, with the American Red Cross Northern Ohio Region, says this is the worst blood shortage in more than a decade.

“Dangerously low blood supply levels are posing a risk to patient care and forcing doctors to make difficult decisions about who receives blood transfusions and who will need to wait until more products become available.”

He says you can set up an appointment to donate by visiting redcrossblood.org, or by calling 1-800 Red Cross, or by downloading the Red Cross app.
