Great Scot Employees Gather For Group Photo As Stores Close

Many current and former Great Scot employees met at the West Main Cross location for a group pic and to reminisce as the two Findlay locations close.

Listen to the audio below to hear about a Great Scot love story featuring Jeff and Kim who met in the 80s while working at the Broad Avenue location. There’s also a video at the bottom of the story.

On June 1, WFIN learned that the two Great Scot grocery stores in Findlay would be closing, as well as the location in North Baltimore.

Officials at the time told WFIN News that the final day for the location on West Main Cross Street would be July 1, while the last day at the Broad Avenue location would be July 8.

WFIN was provided with the following statement from SpartanNash, who acquired Great Scot operator Fresh Encounter in 2024.

“We have made the difficult decision to close both Great Scot locations in Findlay, Ohio, with the final day of operation at the Main Cross St. location taking place on July 1 and the Broad Ave. location on July 8. We are grateful to our store guests for their loyal support, as well as our dedicated team members for their commitment to our shoppers.”

The Great Scot in North Baltimore closed on July 1.

No reason was given for why the stores are being closed.
