PD Urging Patience, Cooperation During Street Improvements
(From the Ottawa Police Department)
Dear Hickory Street Business Owners and Residents,
The Village of Ottawa will begin street improvements on Hickory Street within the next two weeks. Construction is scheduled to continue through May 29th.
- Hickory Street (Main St. to Second St.)
Full roadway reconstruction, including new sidewalks.
- Hickory Street (Main St. to Third St.)
Drainage improvements and curb replacement.
- Main Street Crosswalks at Hickory Street
Installation of push-button pedestrian crossing signals.
(Please note: The attached concept plan is for reference only and is not the final engineered plan.)
Parking & Access During Construction
- No parking will be permitted within the project area once construction begins.
- Vehicles must be removed from the roadway.
- Parking will be available on Second Street, Main Street, Third Street, and in public parking areas.
- Property access from Hickory Street will be limited and, at times, temporarily closed.
We understand this may cause inconvenience and will work to minimize disruptions as much as possible.
Permanent Changes After Completion
- Reverse-in angle parking will be installed.
- Hickory Street will become a one-way street:
From Main Street to Second Street – traffic will flow south
From Main Street to Third Street – traffic will flow north
These improvements are designed to enhance safety, improve drainage, increase pedestrian accessibility, and improve overall traffic flow.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Village of Ottawa offices.
Thank you for your support as we continue improving our community!
