Historical Society Assembling Dillinger Jail Cell For Future Museum

John Dillinger slept here.

The Bluffton Ohio Historical Society is in a capital campaign for our new museum to house the original Allen County Jail cell that was in Lima.

This historic jail was torn down last year.

Dillinger was in this cell several days in 1933, waiting for his trial for robbing the bank in Bluffton, but his gang came and broke him out of this jail cell, killing Sheriff Sarber in the process.

We have the jail cell mounted on a trailer for several months of activities, until we have our permanent display.

We have the sink and toilet to install, so it is nearly complete.
