Wyandot County Deputy Shoots At Charging Dog

5/10/19 – 5:31 A.M.

A Wyandot County Sheriff’s Deputy shot a dog while responding to a domestic dispute Wednesday. WKTN radio reports deputies responded to a home in the 5000 block of State Route 53 after learning a father and son had gotten into a fight. During the altercation, the son’s pit bull bit the father in the face.

While deputies were on the scene they ordered the dog confined to the house. However, the dog got out through a window and charged at a deputy, reportedly coming within inches of his face. The dog continued to approach after one shot, leading the deputy to fire two more rounds. One hit the dog in the leg.

Deputies arrested Dustin Sweigard on a charge of domestic violence.
